Community Forum Posted: Friday June 6, 2008 Kurtis Decker Subject: Youth Praise from St. Marks in Mount Prospect I am a Youth Minister/comtemproary music leader at St. Marks Lutheran Church and I started a comptemporary youth praise band and where pretty good. We have youth from 7th - 11th grades who play guitars (electric/acostic) players, bass, drums, sing and love to praise God. I am looking to get them outside the walls of the church and see how they can use their gifts to praise God in other places. I saw your site and was wondering if they would be able to play sometime in the summer on a Friday night or sometime. We can leade worship on Sunday or at least play current worship songs at a cafe. Have writers come and discuss books, or book clubs with open discussions monthly. Research the history of coffee houses in general. There was a lot of political talk. Have Chrisitian politians come on speak on what they stand for. The Christian coffee house in my mind is a place for Christians to come and not just be fed but to work out their thoughts and beliefs and be encouraged. What about having local church missionaries come and discuss what they have done and inspire others to do in their own life.
